808NOVAPE is a vaping prevention campaign currently providing presentations for elementary, middle and high school students across Oahu. For the past 5 years Hawaii has been experiencing a youth vaping epidemic with prevalence rates among our high school and middle schools students among the highest in the nation. Prevention education regarding the addictiveness of nicotine and the health risks of using tobacco products are among the strategies employed to help bring those rates down.
Typically the presentations are done for the health classes but we have done several all school assemblies or covered entire grades. We also provide presentations for parents and teachers as well as college students and other community groups seeking to raise awareness around this issue. We can also do presentations for a parents night or a school staff training. The presentation is conducted via Powerpoint and is scalable from a 30 minute presentation up to a full hour including Q & A, and usually requires a projector and screen, or large TV. Presentations can also be planned virtually via Zoom, Webex or Google Classroom.

From 2017 to 2019, the 808NOVAPE Campaign partnered with Searider Productions and several public elementary, middle and high schools’ media production classes to produce a series of video PSA’s.
Murals
In addition to the 808NOVAPE media campaign, ten ‘Breathe Aloha’ murals were painted at schools across the State in collaboration with Keep It Flowing Media and high school students in 2018 and 2019.
